The next exhibit coming to the SVWC Lawrence Gallery is from local watercolorist, Mary Fetter. “From the Tip of my Brush” will consist of a variety of portrait, still life, and landscape images displayed from March 9 through April 30. An opening reception will take place on Friday, March 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the public is invited to come and meet the artist. Some paintings will be offered for sale.
Mary is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a major in Fine Arts. She has resided in Winchester since 1964. Over the years, Fetter has taught art locally at the junior high, high school, and university level, and in the community as a private and group instructor of children and adults.
Currently, you will find her working with watercolor, painting portraits and people in various daily activities. However, she has also worked with acrylics and oils. Mary’s paintings have been selected for the 2013, 2015, and 2016 Artscape in Old Town Winchester banner project and the 2016 original is now displayed at The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. She has also exhibited at Art at the Mill in Millwood, VA, in their Spring and Fall shows for the last several years, and at Shenandoah Arts Council in Old Town Winchester. One of her works, “Jerk Chicken-$5,” was juried into the Baltimore Watercolor Society’s annual show in September 2012. You can view Mary’s creations on her website -www.maryfetter.com.
