Calvin University, a private Christian university in Grand Rapids, Michigan, continues their long tradition of offering The January Series, an award-winning lecture series featuring world-renowned speakers. According to Kristi Potter, director of The January Series, the 2021 Series will be a totally virtual experience.
Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury (SVWC) has been one of 60+ nationwide remote sites for the past two years. However, with the onset of COVID-19, our campus has been closed to outside visitors since March. The chances are good that visitation restrictions will not differ in January. SVWC residents will be able to tune in on our internal TV station to hear the speakers, but what of our guests who have attended in person for the past two years? The fantastic news is that anyone can watch each presentation (12:30 to 1:30 p.m. EST) on their own devices from their own homes. If you cannot join live, the lecture will be available for the entire day through midnight via the Calvin University website.
Kristi Potter reports that they can only archive a few of the 2021 presentations on their website, so it will be essential to plan ahead and catch the speakers on their scheduled days. Though The January Series is entirely free, interested parties will need to register to watch. Calvin recommends that anyone interested sign up now to receive a daily e-mail reminder with a link for each day’s presentation.
Or, beginning January 6, come back to the January Series website on the day(s) you wish to tune-in and click on the Watch Now button. You’ll need to fill out a simple form that will redirect you to the daily presentation. We at SVWC feel safe in saying that you won’t be disappointed in The January series, and we are excited to make everyone aware of this exciting opportunity.
